what is internal family systems?

Have you ever felt like part of you wants one thing, but another part of you wants the opposite? Maybe part of you longs for connection, while another part feels afraid to be vulnerable. Or part of you knows you deserve rest, but another part pushes you to keep going.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapy approach that helps us understand and work with those different parts of ourselves. Instead of fighting against these parts or trying to silence them, IFS invites us to get curious about them — to understand what they’re protecting, what they’re carrying, and how they’ve been trying to help.

At the center of all of this is your “Self” — the calm, compassionate, grounded part of you that can lead with clarity and care. In IFS work, we learn how to connect with that Self, heal wounded parts, and create more harmony inside.

IFS is gentle, empowering, and honors the complexity of who you are. It’s not about fixing you — it’s about helping you understand yourself more fully and building trust within.
